Gas Station & Convenience Store Update project

I am seeking an experienced illustrator to create up to 13 high-quality illustrations for a prospective client with a chain of gas stations with convenience stores. Illustrations will be interiors of CV stores to enhance food & beverage offerings, improve traffic flow and customer experience. TOPLINE: We need as many as 13 individual top-quality illustrations of a gas station & CV store w/customers, starting as early as mid-April—more likely in May, continuing without stopping until all art is completed and approved. We estimate a project timetable of one to one-and-a-half months. We have an immediate need for a fee and time estimate by 5:00 PM March 26 from all prospective illustrators to enable us to select one promptly if we win the project. Work remotely.

ONE EXTERIOR illustration that is an amalgam of exterior reference fotos. We have provided a rough composite layout from some of our reference fotos. It shows the primary exterior signage, the pumps and the store front.

FOUR SETS of interior illustrations, VERSIONS A, B, C & D, with 2 or 3 per set (for the sake of time and fee estimating, it will be 3. We can provided rough composites from various reference fotos to indicate how a given illustration might come together. They are very rough and represent initial ideas; what you will be tasked to illustrate may or may not closely resemble what you see here. Each illustration will be populated with multiple people; we will provide a “casting list” of specific characters, identifying the race, gender, age, and clothing for each. From this cast, we will specify which will appear in each illustration, along with an indication and description of their position and pose.

—VERSION A will be as-is, per the foto. The other 3 versions will use these 3 individual illustrations as underlays, so that all subsequent illustrations will share some recognizable visual equity

—VERSION B will be very similar but with some changes; more in detail than in structure. There may be some color/material changes, but I doubt it. For your estimate, assume that it might be 25% different than VERSION A.

—VERSION C will look familiar, but the changes are more obvious, as we may extend a given counter, add noticeably more features on an island or islands, and perhaps rearrange other things to some degree. There probably will be some color/material change, e.g., different countertop materials, wallpaper, etc. For your estimate, assume that it might be 50% different than VERSION A.

—VERSION D will still have the same skeleton but now the changes may be more significant: Island might be replaced with different one, or increased in size, and have different elements/ features on them; placement of the existing ones–modified or not–might be changed and new ones added; lighting may change so that it highlights the key components, such as the islands, placement of the free-standing shelving racks and/or wall shelving may change. New interior walls might be added, or a pass-through to a small service kitchen/counter, maybe even adding 2-4 tall standing tables (no stools or seats) shoehorned in there somewhere. For your estimate, assume that it might be 75% different than VERSION A.

Plan on 3 iterations per illustration in VERSION A:
1-We will give you the reference fotos and any other materials, plus a sketch of any necessary changes, plus a written list of essential notes, highlights, details, etc. In return, you will deliver your first B&W layout.
2-We will respond with written comments and any specified changes, along with a keyed copy of your sketch so that it is clear to that which we refer. After that, you incorporate those revisions and proceed to color (unless there are enough changes or perplexing ones that we need to look at another B&W. In VERSION A, we doubt that this will occur.
3-Once we approve your tightened layout, you will proceed to a full-color rendering, which may be the final.
4-IF any tweaks are required, we will specify them, and you will incorporate them into your final-final illustration.

VERSIONS B, C & D will proceed similarly except that there could be 3 B&W roughs and 2 rounds of color. VERSION D might add an additional B&W and an additional Color, depending on how complex the requested changes are, how well I have explained them and how easily/quickly you were able to incorporate them.

ASSUMING that the above is accurate, for the purpose of your fee and time estimates, we assume that the prices and time per Versions B, C & D might increase by 25%, 50% and 75% respectively above your estimate for Version A.

Everything here is subject to change and our needs could change accordingly. We need to deliver the best and most accurate fee and time estimate that we can at this moment so that our client will have something “graspable” to which they can respond. If they ask for a tighter estimate AFTER giving us more specific direction, or if they give us a “GO!” with some questions remaining, you will have a chance to review your estimates and revise them as necessary.

This is a team project, and while we are The Big Deciders, and we do expect you to deliver art that meets our specifications on the timetable upon which we have agreed, we know that we will have nothing to work with nor present to our client unless we have worked in close creative partnership with you.
