Job Description

At BearJam, we are entering a thrilling new chapter, poised to redefine our creative excellence. As an award-winning production company, BearJam prides itself on delivering compelling video and animation content that captivates audiences and sets industry standards. We are seeking to hire a temporary (1-3 months, with the potential to go permanent) motion designer/animator to join our creative team, working across all our video content projects, which include live action and fully animated projects. Reporting into the Creative Lead, this role is dual-focussed: originating style frames and storyboards or crafting decks, as well as creating elegant animation in After Effects (AE). Working in partnership with fellow creatives and producers, you will have the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively on your own projects.

You will have a clear passion for design and animation, and a desire to be part of the wider creative process, including ideation and pre-production input, is highly encouraged. Knowing the importance of brand guidelines and being skilled at working within them while delivering designs that wow clients is also important. The role requires a high degree of empowerment and trust, calling for quiet confidence, healthy ambition, emotional maturity, an excellent work ethic, and unwavering commitment to succeeding in your role.

Requirements

Objectives of this Role

• Add fresh creative muscle and personality to our team across both design, motion graphics & animation, and live action video content.
• Work alongside our motion team to design high quality animation and motion graphics projects.
• Create decks and treatments that enhance creative ideas and speak directly to the brand/client.
• Create eye-catching marketing/social content for BearJam and serve as the brand guardian of all BearJam material.
• Support the new business team to deliver pitch decks, including styleframes, landing pages, idea generation, and design support.
• Champion our company’s growth by inspiring both our team and our clients to produce best-in-class video content.

Key Responsibilities

• Create motion/animation graphics for a wide range of purposes including animated content, explainer animations, branded content, event coverage, social media content, promotional videos, and interviews.
• Source appropriate imagery/inspiration for mood boards and client proposals.
• Create original designs for style frames and storyboards to build into motion.
• Ability to conceptualize and outsource 3D projects if the budget allows; any 3D skills are a bonus.
• Adapt and roll out campaign assets across multiple social media & broadcast formats as required.
• Export content to precise technical specifications.
• Maintain Motion GFX projects and assets, package, and deliver projects to clients.
• Manage project ownership including communication, planning, foresight, and proactive management of challenges.
• Communicate ideas internally and to clients and execute feedback.
• Contribute to original ideas and develop concepts alongside the Lead Creative.
• Create content for our own social media and website case studies.
• Work within corporate branding guidelines and advise on branding aspects.

Skills and Qualifications

• Strong technical skills and experience in Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.
• 2 - 3+ years of motion and design experience backed by a creatively strong professional and/or personal portfolio.
• Consistent, positive, and can-do attitude.
• Ability to set and communicate clear expectations to the team and clients.
• High levels of initiative and ability to work autonomously to deliver on objectives.
• Thrive in a high-pressure environment while leading by calm and effective example.
• Able to work effectively with a variety of personalities for best outcomes.
• Natural organizational ability and aptitude to multitask and adapt to changing projects.
• Excellent creative eye and passion for motion design.
• Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven track record of creating video content across various platforms such as YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
• Understanding of narrative storytelling.
• Confident using Mac hardware and software.
