It is the end of summer 2026 in Los Altos Hill, Southern California where the Goldstein family lives. They are the owners of one of the most successful tech companies of our century – in charge of constructing our dreams and allowing us to experiment with them.
Isla and her father, Ron Goldstein, were left motherless and widowed when Isla was 3 years old. Ever since, it’s been them against the world. But with Isla starting her last year of university and her father releasing a new Lucid dreaming machine, The Morpheus 25, strange things start to happen around them.
COGNIZANT is about to release the MORPHEUS 25, an updated lucid-dreaming machine that secretly intends to erase people’s memories to rewrite them, as the company has been trying to cover up a list of dark secrets including cases of dead ex-employees, usage of MORPHEUS data to blackmail people and secret collaborations with the CIA on mission cover-ups.
The show starts after Isla sees a horrifying reality in her last dream - a totalitarian society controlled by the U.S. government and COGNIZANT. Isla starts discovering the company’s secrets by meeting people leading a revolution against the company. She begins to find out COGNIZANT’s crimes including corporate blackmail and tests of the MORPHEUS 25 on orphan children, seeing the full capacity of the machine which implants new memories in people, and secrets about how David, her real father, found out COGNIZANT was doing these experiments.
