Job Description

We’re seeking a talented Freelance Cinematic Videographer / Director of Photography (DP) for a project to produce a 90-second product showcase for our smart virtual assistant, Axel. This short film, titled “A Day with Axel”, will highlight the app’s features in various real-life scenarios (home, car, office, café). As the DP, you’ll be responsible for capturing cinematic visuals, while working closely with our team to create a high-quality, engaging video that brings Axel to life. This role will be central to the visual storytelling of our product’s promotional material, helping Axel stand out as a high-tech, intuitive assistant and delivering a premium marketing asset that resonates with potential users and drives brand awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Capture Cinematic Footage: Film across five key locations (bedroom, car, office, café, home) to effectively showcase the user’s daily interactions with Axel.
  • Camera Techniques & Angles: Employ first-person, over-the-shoulder, and lifestyle POV shots to create an immersive experience.
  • Collaborate with the Editor: Coordinate with the editor to ensure camera angles and shots align seamlessly with digital UI overlays.
  • Direct Subtle Performances: Guide the talent (non-speaking role) to ensure natural, genuine interactions that highlight the user’s experience with Axel.
  • Lighting & Camera Setup: Manage the lighting and camera setup across varying environments, adjusting for lighting conditions.
  • Efficient Production Process: Work in close coordination with the producer and editor to ensure a smooth and efficient shoot.

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 3+ years in commercial, tech, or lifestyle video production with a strong reel demonstrating cinematic lighting and dynamic composition.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience filming in small spaces (cars, small offices) using lightweight rigs and high-quality cameras (Sony FX3, Canon R5C, Blackmagic, or equivalent).
  • Gear: Must have your own professional camera gear, including lenses, stabilization equipment (e.g., gimbals), and lighting tools.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with a small team, including producers, editors, and talent.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly adjust setups and troubleshoot technical challenges during filming.

Additional Information

This role is crucial for creating a visually appealing product that effectively showcases features of the smart virtual assistant, Axel, in real-life environments.
