Job Description

Job Title: Contract Kotlin Engineer

Location: Hybrid, (occasional visits to Leeds and Manchester)

Contract Length: 3 months (rolling contract opportunities)

Rate: £400 - £430 per day (outside IR35)

About the Role: We are partnering with an innovative technology consultancy to find experienced Kotlin Engineers to join their team on a contract basis. If you are passionate about writing clean, scalable Kotlin code and have strong experience with Spring Boot, cloud computing, and DevOps, this could be the perfect role for you. You will work on exciting projects, delivering cutting-edge solutions while ensuring best practices in software development.

Requirements

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and develop scalable, high-performance Kotlin applications that power innovative solutions.
  • Build and maintain microservices using Spring Boot, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
  • Work with cloud computing environments, designing and managing scalable and secure applications.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver features and enhancements that make a tangible impact.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong experience in Kotlin and Spring Boot, with a track record of delivering high-quality applications.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms and best practices for scalability, security, and performance.
  • Practical experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and performance optimisation.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of working independently and within a team.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB).
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and best practices.

Additional Information

  • This role offers a hybrid working model, requiring occasional visits to both Leeds and Manchester. The contract position is rolling, meaning there are opportunities for extensions beyond the initial three months.
