Job Description

We are looking for a Designer to join Stylist on a part-time basis (1 day a week) for a period of 12 months. Stylist, part of DC Thomson, is the UK’s leading media brand for women, reaching 5 million UK women a month and making up 40% of the women’s lifestyle sector. Overall Objective:

• Create industry-leading design for Stylist, targeted at affluent women and advertisers.
• Design social, Stylist+, and email assets across all Stylist franchises as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain an understanding of the tastes and interests of Stylist advertisers and readers.
• Create social assets to support and promote digital and print Stylist content.
• Design email assets for the How to work email.
• Create imagery for Stylist.co.uk as needed.
• Originate picture ideas for the Friday Art team Stylist+ meeting.
• Assist the team with reprographics and art desk admin.
• Support other Designers with their workload as required.
• Build and create the digital iteration of Stylist+ mini-mag on Canvas Flow.
• Assist with design needs in marketing and small events.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Maintain a strong reference library and monitor contemporary design trends.
• Leave good pass-on notes and material for absence and plan holidays in the department.

Requirements

• Experience in designing creative digital imagery with attention to detail.
• Highly organised and enjoys fast-paced, dynamic environments.
• Proactive, solution-based attitude.
• Personable with strong communication skills.
• Ability to represent the company professionally at shoots and with external companies.
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
• Professional team player with a positive attitude who works well under pressure.
• Necessary software skills include Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator; experience with After Effects and Canvas Flow is preferable.
