Job Description

[Contract] Game Programmer Generalist (Custom Game Engine) - We are Arcade Freelance, a small video game agency based in the western United States! We are currently looking for a Generalist Software Engineer to work on a long-term client contract helping develop a custom game engine AND using the game engine to develop the game. Responsibilities

• Developing the game inside the custom engine
• Working with a small team to develop the game engine
• Providing input and feedback during regular Agile SCRUM meetings

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience with custom engines or modding
• Familiarity with Vulkan, shaders, or other low-level systems
• Strong communication skills; the team works in an agile/scrum environment
• Comfortable working 9–5 in the CEST time zone
• Fluent in the English language

Additional Information

• Long-term contract
• Includes a probationary period to start (1-3 months)
• Fully remote, with required overlap during CEST working hours
