Job Description

We are Arcade Freelance, a small video game agency based in the western United States, looking for a Generalist Software Engineer to work on a long-term client contract. The role involves developing a custom game engine and using it to create games. This position is fully remote, with required overlap during CEST working hours.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience

• Experience with custom engines or modding

• Familiarity with Vulkan, shaders, or other low-level systems

• Strong communication skills, with experience in an agile/scrum environment

• Comfortable working 9–5 in the CEST time zone

• Fluent in the English language

Responsibilities

• Developing the game within the custom engine

• Collaborating with a small team on game engine development

• Providing input and feedback during regular Agile SCRUM meetings

Contract Details

• Long-term contract

• Includes a probationary period to start (1-3 months)

• Fully remote, with required overlap during CEST working hours
