Hi, I'm Robinton Hobbs, an LA-based musical artist, composer, music editor, and producer. I spent many years playing in rock bands and producing basement punk records, but for the last decade I've been working primarily in the world of music for media in Los Angeles, and worldwide. I have a passion for storytelling, and enjoy bringing that sensibility to my musical profession. Something my clients most commonly say is how much they enjoy the process of working with me and how my aesthetically tuned choices have elevated their project to meet their vision. As the COO and Co-Founder of Joy Music House, I have produced scores including Emile Mosseri’s Oscar-nominated score for Minari and served as the music editor for the Netflix docuseries Untold. My recent works include the soundtracks for the podcast The Witch and Other Tales of the American Gothic. In my free time, I enjoy language creation, medieval history, and Dungeons & Dragons.

In this eco-horror film a mad botanist experiments on a hapless gardener to create a sentient plant - giving plants a fighting chance against climate change. I wanted to infuse this score with a base of organic elements, mixed with tastefully overbearing synthetic elements. I gathered sticks and rocks from my local canyon and recorded taps, ticks and scrapes to create a percussion pallet, and married this with plucked strings and prepared piano, woven against distorted orchestral lines and warped synths to create a fusion of digital and analog instruments which symbolize the union of plant and human. https://vimeo.com/955982779/d4113d238b?share=copy
uniE613 The Witch and Other Tales of the American Gothic
An accused witch is banished from her home in Portland, Maine. A young socialite in New Orleans dabbles in magic to get rid of a rival. An acrobat in a traveling circus learns her greatest enemy lives in the mirror. An Irish immigrant may have brought malevolent faeries with her to the New World. A lumberjack in the Pacific Northwest suspects a monster lurks behind the enormous trees. A Colorado gold miner finds himself trapped in the bowels of the earth, no matter how many times he tries to dig his way out. A psychiatrist in Chicago suffers from insomnia and loses track of where reality ends and his nightmares begin. Written in the literary tradition of gothic horror, The Witch: And Other Tales of the American Gothic is a collection of strange occurrences in 19th century America. These seven stories provide a reflection of the country’s growing pains during a time of transition and an exploration of the secrets that lurk in the shadows of the world we think we know. https://www.twine.net/signin
