Award-winning writer/director, Scott Smith’s film career all started by breaking the Ten Commandments… His cult classic short film, “TEN,” which features a man breaking all Ten Commandments in three minutes, was his entrée into the film world, and got the attention of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, which landed him on their reality based TV filmmaking competition, PROJECT GREENLIGHT – where Smith was one of three Director finals selected out of a pool of two-thousand.
And as Ben Affleck said in the selection process, “Now there’s a guy who can do drama and comedy… Smith can do it all.”
Since then, Smith has written and directed two award-winning feature films – a narrative feature called, “Chasing the Blues,” which follows two rival record collectors as they chase down a mythical blues album, and a documentary feature called, “Being Bucky,” about seven college students who play Bucky Badger, the ubiquitous mascot at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, for a year.
Smith has shot well as over twenty short films, scores of commercials, including a Super Bowl spot for Frito-Lays. His work has screened at such prestigious festivals as the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, Palm Springs International Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, SXSW, as well as Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal and Chicago.
