Carles Pedrón, aka sr.charli (1982, Valencia, Spain), composer, visual artist, and cultural manager, studied at the School of Fine Arts in Dijon, France, before moving to Germany in 2010, where he thrived on self-teaching 2D animation, piano, and sound composition for over nine years.
Carles makes his debut at the Boodinalle Film Festival in Berlin, in 2014, in which he comes back to the audiovisual context after years dedicated exclusively to painting. In this first experimental project, WA, through the combination of 2D animation, piano, and other components, audio improvisation and visual components are intertwined to build a two-lane track comprised of Carles’s life experiences and musical depth. After moving to Leipzig, in 2016, where he co-creates the collective space Kontor80, Carles sets his efforts to organizing activities in connection with sound art, performances, and improvisation. Taking his first steps into the analogue synthesizing world, he develops collective visual and sound improvisation projects at Moodi and sets his foot at the Wisp Kollectiv. This culminated in the co-organization of the 2016 edition of the Wisp Festival, with the cooperation of over 64 artists. Following-up on his contribution to the collective, Carles helps organize the Wisp Lab, in which various subjects, such as philosophy, dance, music, video art, painting, creative programming and others are combined to design an experimentation ambience where new art-related technologies can be both discovered and developed.
Later on, in 2022, Carles founds the collective Proyecto NULO, focused on the research, diffusion of independent artistic creation and performance in Alboraya (Spain). There he coordinates the experimental NULO sessions and delivers 2D animation and creative sound workshops. Besides he designs sound compositions in documentary projects regarding historical memory and theater.
Currently Carles is immersed in Lúcido, his latest personal sketch of audiovisual experimenting. He sets up to design scenic-sound poetry joint-ventures with the director and poet Elsa Moreno through the Poesía sintética project. At the same time, he works with the sound composition of La hora blanca, a theatre adaptation of Elsa Moreno’s first poetry book, which will be presented in May at the Carme Theatre, in Valencia.
