uniE621 UX Case Study on Bakery App
Bakery App UX Case Study: Crafting a Sweet Experience Our project centered on designing a Bakery App aimed at transforming the way customers interact with bakeries online. The objective was to create a delightful, efficient, and engaging app for browsing, customizing, and ordering bakery products, while maintaining the warmth and personal touch of a local bakery. Approach and Process Understanding Users: Through qualitative interviews and surveys, we identified two primary user groups: Customers: Seeking variety, easy customization, and quick delivery. Bakery Owners: Interested in showcasing products, managing inventory, and streamlining orders. Pain Points Addressed: Limited options for personalized orders. Lack of clarity in pricing and delivery schedules. Overly complex or outdated user interfaces in existing apps. Design Principles: Simplicity: A straightforward and clean interface for easy navigation. Customization: Personalized options for cakes, pastries, and more. Engagement: Features to build customer loyalty, like rewards programs and exclusive offers. Key Features: Interactive Menu: Users can browse detailed product descriptions, images, and reviews. Build-Your-Own Feature: Allows customization of cakes and other items, such as selecting flavors, sizes, and designs. Smart Filters: Search by dietary preferences (e.g., gluten-free, vegan). Order Management: Real-time updates for order status and delivery tracking. Design Execution: Created wireframes to visualize core user journeys, such as placing an order or customizing a product. Prototyped an interactive design focused on enhancing the emotional connection through warm colors, playful typography, and appetizing visuals. Integrated feedback loops for users to share their experiences and rate bakery items. Validation and Testing: Usability testing highlighted areas to improve, such as simplifying the checkout process and refining the product customization flow. Iterative adjustments were made to ensure a seamless experience. Results: The final design merged functionality with charm, embodying the essence of a neighborhood bakery while catering to the demands of a digital audience. This case study demonstrated the value of combining user research, thoughtful design, and iterative feedback to create an app that resonates with both users and businesses.
