I am a technically proficient and creative sound designer, audio engineer, and live event producer whose work has been heard across various media and in live productions for over 20 years. I have a deep passion for delivering dynamic and impactful productions. My relationship with audio production developed as a Radio-TV-Film major at Howard University. It was there that I formed a great appreciation for the production process and the art of storytelling in radio. Throughout my career, the fundamental skills I garnered in college have further developed as my experiences have extended beyond radio production and broadcast media and into studio and live sound, sound design, and event production. I am a musician and producer who writes, records, and mixes music of various genres. In the theater, on location, or in the studio, I am comfortable in any production environment. I would describe myself as an innovative, problem-solving, storyteller, technician, and collaborator. At least, that is always the vision I have for and of myself whenever I accept any project. My primary goal is for my presence and my contribution to matter. I love what I do, and that shows up in my work.

As the Sound Designer, I worked with the audio engineer throughout the tech process to sculpt the overall sound of the show and make adjustments appropriate for the performance space. I was also responsible for the ambient and sound effects elements necessary to help tell the story. From that standpoint, I designed based on scripted and unscripted sound elements. https://www.twine.net/signin theater theatre sounddesign audio storytelling musical
uniE621 "The House That Will Not Stand" - Howard University
As the Sound Designer, I helped to create a sonic world in a performance space in which the actors were not miked. My creative use of ambient sound, music beds, and gentle sound effects, helped to advance and support this story of a "well-to-do" Black family in New Orleans in the 1830's. The effectiveness of my intentionality was highlighted in the following review: https://www.twine.net/signin theater theatre sounddesign audio storytelling
    uniE621 "Sonnets & Soul" - Howard University
A challenging design due to a challenging space (and staged blocking). The sound effects and ambiences were most certainly the easiest aspects of designing this show. The variable I had to overcome was the theatre space that was not necessarily suited for such a large production. Full eight-piece band in the wing and as many as 18 vocalists on stage at one time. This was without a functioning house sound system. As a world premier, there were a lot of unknowns, and yet a lot of pressure. Mitigating feedback and managing overall levels in the lively space were the main objects. It took a few runs, but we managed to hit a groove. Working closely with the Sound Engineer, we overcame and designed a fantastic show. https://www.twine.net/signin theater theatre sounddesign audio sound live musical storytelling
uniE621 "Rock Paper Scissors" - The Welders / Soul Shine Theatre Garden
This is another show in which the sound played a prominent "character" role in the storytelling. I supported this one-woman show by weaving together designed soundscapes ("darkness," "the womb."...), prerecorded voiceovers, ambient beds, and music. I was tasked with building childhood flashbacks, inner turmoil, and jubilation. https://www.twine.net/signin theater theatre sounddesign audio sound live play storytelling
uniE621 "The Wilting Point" - The Keegan Theatre
Sound was most certainly a main character in this, sometimes, slower paced story. My designed was very much responsible for moving the characters from location to location as well as highlighting poignant moments. From the subtle to the sublime, my ambient beds, musical traditions and features, and exquisitely constructed sound effects, made their presence known without being obnoxious or overbearing. https://www.twine.net/signin theater theatre sounddesign audio sound live play storytelling
uniE621 "Push The Button" - The Keegan Theatre
My first professional sound design gig, this was the first in a string of "World Premiere" productions. It was a blast working on this original hip hop musical with a message. The most exiting moment for me came during tech rehearsal. I surprised the director and the cast with a series of cues, musical hits, that turned a "moment" into a full Black Church "gospel moment!" It landed, it was hilarious, and they loved it! That moment was confirmation enough for me that I had embarked on the right path. https://www.twine.net/signin theater theatre sounddesign audio sound musical live hiphop storytelling
uniE621 "Cradle And All..." - Ally Theatre Company
As a devised work, much of my sound design was developed inside of the technical rehearsal process. I sourced, and in some instances, created and shaped, sound effects that supported and emphasized key moments in this staged reading. In this story about family and friends of the incarcerated, the sound became an unseen, but very much present, character. https://www.twine.net/signin theater theatre sounddesign audio storytelling devised live sound
