Viridian Van Buskirk is a Los Angeles based illustrator with an eye for the weird. A graduate from ArtCenter College of Design with a BFA in Illustration, she plans to use her skills in every facet of the creative world she can get her hands on. Having been "that" kid growing up, Viridian often escaped into the worlds she drew up. Her drawings sprung up every where; in notebooks, homework, textbooks, backs of hands, desks, and even on walls. Viridian Van Buskirk is a Los Angeles based illustrator with an eye for the weird.

A graduate from ArtCenter College of Design with a BFA in Illustration, she plans to use her skills in every facet of the creative world she can get her hands on. Having been “that” kid growing up, Viridian often escaped into the worlds she drew up. Her drawings sprung up every where; in notebooks, homework, textbooks, backs of hands, desks, and even on walls. All she could think about was drawing, and draw she did.

Now a professional, Viridian uses her unique, “doodle-y” style everywhere from package design to comics to visual development. She seeks to embrace all of life’s little oddities through her art and, in her words, “Keep it Weird!”

    uniE621 Self Portrait Scroll
When running low on ideas, a habit of mine is to draw little caricatures of myself. Typically done traditionally on pen and paper, I have hundreds of these little doodles spread through tens of sketchbooks- and the collection is steadily growing. For my ArtCenter Grad Show, I scanned as many of them as I
uniE621 Early Concepts in Logo Design
While creating the brand design for my portfolio website, I struggled with finding a font that I felt fit my motto, "Keep it Weird." Rather than settle, I turned to creating the logo myself, and jotted down two page's worth of concepts for the design. The final product can be seen on my website:
    uniE621 Life Drawing with Doodles
Combining life drawing with my signature doodle-y style, I produced a handful of illustrations similar to this one. I felt that straying away from the normal one-to-one realism so often found in life drawings made this series pop, and in turn became some of my favorite works to do. More of them can be
    uniE621 Ufo in Eden
A series of illustrations depicting an unknown visitor crash landing on primordial earth. Not only are the planet's flora and fauna bizarre, but so are its human inhabitants. Process shots and other illustrations can be found on my website: https://www.twine.net/signin illustrator
    uniE621 chANGELing Comic
A comic about two weird little girls and how they navigate their friendship, the world around them, and their peculiar powers. Based off of a close friend and myself, chANGELing tells the story of being "different," and what it means to find happiness in spite of what others think. More pages can be
    uniE621 Liquid Death Package Design
One of my senior projects was to redesign packages for two flavors of Liquid Death. This first one is for their Mountain Water line. I designed this package to fit in with their brand identity of heavy illustration and out-there imagery, while still keeping true to my style and portfolio of work. More
