Adeyemi Ogunkanmi, also known as Yemi Kanmi, is a Nigerian-American composer, producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, sound designer, audio engineer, and educator specializing in work for animated media and video games.
Having studied under the tutelage of world-renowned artist and composer Thomas Dolby as well as Emmy nominated composer Christopher Kennedy at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, while assisting ASCAP award-winning composer Brad Breeck (Gravity Falls, The Owl House, Kiff, etc.), Yemi’s work powerfully exemplifies the weaving of extended harmonic techniques and cultural representation into the art of scoring and soundtrack composition.
On top of working with multiple independent animation studios on numerous projects, such as Tlacuache Studios, Shockwave Animation, and Aftershock Animations, Yemi has worked on over a dozen animated short films, along with creating, directing, and composing for the short film L’Allunaggio del Lupo.
In their spare time, they can be found playing jazz piano, learning trivia, studying languages, and cooking steak. A lot of steak.
