Contract: Temporary, Part-time

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Metropolitan Crime Commission is hiring a part-time employee to work 15-20 hours per week in our offices during normal business hours in support of our social media. Due to the nature of our work, this position is in-person only.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

I. SOCIAL MEDIA

• A. Help manage an array of communication strategies designed to engage the public, media outlets, and local community members.
• B. Create posts, stories, videos, and other content for the MCC’s social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
• C. Assist with the weekly crime bulletin and email blast using Constant Contact
• D. Establish new ideas to grow our social media (e.g., Tik Tok channel) and mailing list
• E. Update the media and other content on the MCC’s website
• F. Track the growth of MCC’s social media platforms (i.e., post engagement and followers)

II. MISCELLANEOUS

• A. Attend and assist with MCC special events and functions
• B. Other duties as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A. Strong writing ability, people skills, extensive computer skills especially using Microsoft Office applications and Canva, graphic design abilities, and spreadsheet software
• B. Some experience with Java, HTML, CSS, or other general programming languages for web design
• C. A bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, political science, social science, communications, marketing, public relations, graphic design, or related fields
