Responsibilities

• Conceptualisation and implementation of user interface designs that support and align with the product strategy
• Establish and promote UI design guidelines, best practises, and standards
• Conducting competitor analysis to understand how users might expect the product to look and behave based on their experience with similar products
• The visual design, positioning and behaviour of UI elements including colour, iconography, typography, structure, visual hierarchy, usability, and accessibility
• Extend existing visual designs as well as creating new innovative concepts
• Interaction design focusing on aesthetics, animations, and transitions
• Creating wireframes and prototypes to communicate the look and feel of the UI before it’s developed
• Present and communicate concepts to designers, developers and stakeholders. Give a clear rationale for your design decisions.
• Input into creating design for Design Systems, component libraries, style guides, and documentation
• Implement design concepts using front-end development skills and technologies such as HTML/CSS
• Cross-browser testing and debugging

Software experience

• Wireframing - Balsamic or similar
• Prototyping - Adobe XD, Figma or similar
• UI Design - Adobe Design suite
• UI frontend development - PHP Storm or similar
• Jira - project tasks and time tracking

The Successful UI Designer will have/be:

• Strong portfolio demonstrating a deep understanding of visual design skills and fundamentals
• Proven experience within UI Design roles
• Expert understanding of user interface design best practice
• Experience working in teams, with developers, UX designers, stakeholders etc
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS.

We have an office in Glasgow City Centre and offer hybrid working, allowing the flexibility of working from home (WTF) or working in the office.

This role is initially offered as a 12 month Contract, with option to extend or become full-time employee, subject to review.

Working Hours

We work a 9.5 day fortnight. Every second Friday is a half day!

Week 1: Monday - Friday - 9:00am to 5:00pm

Week 2: Monday - Thursday - 9:00am to 5:00pm; Friday 9:00am to 1pm

Salary: £31,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
