Job Description

You will draw from an extensive background of experience in core data engineering. Your skills will enable and deliver data and analytical solutions on our analytics and data platforms. You will be able to act as a senior technical expert in all aspects of delivery and be prepared to provide leadership and guidance to small project teams/resources in a collaborative way. You will develop and maintain the technology infrastructure that is integrating new and existing sources of data into Data Analytics, so that it can be exploited with maximum efficiency and efficacy. Key skills required include: data engineering, data architecture, data analysis, security architecture, DevOps, and business partnering.

Requirements

We’re interested in people who have:

  • Extensive knowledge/experience (5+ years) using Python, SQL, and AWS
  • Hands-on ETL development experience utilising AWS S3, Glue, Lambdas, Athena, Sage maker
  • Experience in writing robust data pipeline code that can run unattended, including data validation, manipulation, merging, joining, and at times visualization
  • An analytical skill set with an ability to understand data requirements and support the development of data solutions
  • An ability to troubleshoot and solve numerical and technical problems
  • Experience with supporting design of data models / data flows as well as Github, git, pull requests, CI, and code review
  • An ability to work as part of a team to develop and deliver end-to-end data warehouse solutions
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills evidenced through verbal and written means to a wide range of stakeholders

About the Job

A part of the Cabinet Office, the Central Digital and Data Office leads the digital, data, and technology (DDaT) function for government. We put the right conditions in place to achieve digital, data, and technology transformation at scale by working with departments and other government functions like commercial, project delivery, and security professionals. We are responsible for digital, data, and technology strategy and standards, cross-government DDaT performance and assurance, and DDaT capability development.

Things You Need to Know

The standard selection process for roles at CDDO consists of a simple application screening process and a 60-minute video interview. Depending on the number of applications, there might be additional stages such as a phone interview or a technical exercise. The Civil Service uses Success Profiles to evaluate skills, abilities, and behaviors relevant to the role. Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview or assessment.
