Job Description

Pixel Parlor is a woman-owned design studio and Certified B Corp specializing in branding, websites, graphic design, custom illustration, and experiential design. We are seeking a Designer with extensive experience in design for UX/UI, IA that specializes in website design. This position will play an important role in our Web/UX team by providing design services during the maternity leave of our Senior UX Designer. The role is a 4-month freelance engagement for 25 hours per week, beginning September 1, 2024, with the possibility of extending the contract or transitioning into a permanent position.

The Web/UX/UI Designer will provide comprehensive design and production for a variety of projects including websites, applications, digital design, and social media for clients that include performing arts organizations, not-for-profits, and purpose-driven businesses. The ideal candidate should have a passion for design, a desire to grow and learn, and a portfolio demonstrating their impact in a friendly and highly creative environment.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interactive/UX Design, or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience
• A highly developed portfolio demonstrating versatility in design for UX, Web, and Digital
• Confidence and comfort when participating in critiques and client-facing meetings, as well as receiving feedback and constructive criticism
• A developed sense of typography and layout
• An illustrative approach to design and color
• The ability to run a project from start to finish independently with minimal project management and creative oversight
• Capability to handle components of the development and production process with front-end and back-end developers
• Expert in Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, XD, Miro, Google Sheets, and CMS’s including WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify, Webflow, and Elementor page builder
• The ability to design and build HTML email marketing campaigns, landing pages, and other campaign elements following industry standards and best practices
• Experience in Branding and Print Design is a plus
