Job Title: Artworker/Graphic Designer (Maternity Cover)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Artworker/Graphic Designer to join their busy design studio for a maternity cover position. Reporting to the Production Manager, your primary responsibility will be to design and prepare artwork according to client briefs. You’ll also ensure all artwork is press-ready for litho or digital printing, maintaining the highest quality standards.

This dynamic role is based in central Oxford within a fast-paced production environment. You’ll collaborate closely with other team members and liaise with customers to ensure timely delivery of designs that meet all technical specifications.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Design & Artwork Preparation:
  Create artwork from copy and images supplied by clients, ensuring adherence to client specifications.

• Amend and Archive Management:
  Update and amend artwork from the digital archive for reprints, ensuring all files are press-ready.

• Brand Guidelines:
  Ensure all artwork complies with the customer’s brand guidelines.

• Customer Proofs:
  Create pre-production prototypes and press-ready proofs, and liaise with customers to seek feedback and approval.

• Operational Processes:
  Follow internal processes and escalate any issues or workflow hold-ups as needed.

• Production Team Collaboration:
  Liaise with the press operators and bindery team to ensure artwork meets technical printing and imposition requirements.

• Workload Management:
  Prioritise and manage workload according to production schedules and customer deadlines.

• Other Duties:
  Carry out additional tasks related to design and production as required.

Candidate Requirements

• Methodical Approach:
  You take a steady and organized approach to your work with a strong attention to detail, ensuring that all design tasks are completed to a high standard.

• Print Studio Experience:
  Familiarity with working in a small, busy print studio where multi-tasking is essential. You’re comfortable switching between tasks as workflow demands.

• Proactive Problem Solver:
  You’re quick to step in and resolve issues as they arise, even if it means trying something new.

• Adobe Creative Suite Expertise:
  Extensive experience with Adobe InDesign is essential. Experience with other Creative Suite applications (such as Illustrator and Photoshop) is a plus.

• Reprographics Experience:
  Previous experience with reprographics is highly desirable.

• Team Player:
  You enjoy working collaboratively and seeing tasks through from start to finish, taking pride in delivering high-quality results.
