Job Description

Position: Junior Content Designer

Salary: £29,250 – £34,655 per annum – for internal applicants, internal reward principles will apply

Location: Glasgow/Darlington/Llandudno

Pension: A Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution of 28.97%

Type: 6-month secondment / 6-month fixed-term contract

The Student Loans Company (SLC) is a non-profit making Government-owned organisation that provides loans and grants to students in universities and colleges in the UK. Since 1989, SLC has enabled customers to invest in their futures by delivering secure, accurate, and efficient assessment, payment, and repayment services.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Content Designer to join the Customer Communications and Marketing department. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders to simplify information and assist users in achieving their goals while aligning with policy intent. The role will encompass both digital and offline channels, and you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver user-centered services.

SLC offers a blended working model, typically comprising 2 days in the office and 3 days from home.

Requirements

• Effective communication skills, with the ability to adapt delivery to suit the audience while maintaining attention to detail.

• Awareness of Government accessibility requirements.

• Experience in understanding and implementing design principles.

• Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and digital tools.

• Experience in a junior content design role or related fields such as journalism, marketing, communications, publishing, or editorial roles.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
