Job Description:

The User Experience Designer will be responsible for providing development and support to the customer-facing design system. They will work on new components, defects, accessibility, and page templates. The designer will also act as a designer-developer and assist with decision-making for high visibility projects. They will develop reusable and responsive interactive patterns and code libraries, create clean semantic HTML markup, and ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs. The designer will collaborate with analysts, developers, and architects for successful implementation, participate in conceptualizing and prioritizing strategies for the product UX, and develop well-structured and maintainable code. They will also work with team members to develop UI prototypes, design and maintain design files, and stay up to date on user interface trends and programming techniques.

Requirements:

- High School or GED

- Experience creating lo-fidelity designs for complex user interactions

- Experience creating wireframes, clickable prototypes, and high fidelity designs using Figma or similar design tool

- Fluency in translating user needs, business goals, and technical constraints into visualizations

- Deep experience in front-end web application development

- Experience with cross-browser compatibility issues

- Knowledge of technology storyboarding tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and Envision

- Experience working with cross-functional teams using Agile/Scrum methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

- UI/UX design or web developer certifications and training

- Previous experience in the Electric and Gas Utility Industry

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or applicable business degree

- Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3, and React

- Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platform (SASS)

- Exposure to front-end user frameworks (Vue.js, AngularJS, ReactJs, jQuery, etc.)

- Familiarity with screen reader tools is a plus (VoiceOver, JAWS, NVDA)

- This is a full-time, contract position

- Pay rate: Up to $48.95 per hour
