Job Description

Disney Entertainment’s eight owned ABC stations are multiplatform leaders in local news and information. Emmy Award-winning station KGO-TV ABC7 is the San Francisco Bay Area’s source for breaking news, weather, and live video. Widely recognized for its solution-based promise to help the Bay Area communities, the station’s initiative “Building a Better Bay Area” dedicates more time, resources, and reporting to the issues that impact its viewers’ quality of life. The station focuses on challenges facing neighborhoods, from local economy and education to health, safety, and environmental issues.

This strong Producer will work collaboratively and be responsible for story development and context, non-linear desktop editing, writing stories and teases, building graphics, timing, and all other editorial and production elements. The role requires proven control room experience and an expert ability to handle live breaking news. Candidates will contribute story ideas daily and actively participate in coverage decisions and editorial meetings. A self-starter and team player who can collaborate effectively with a wide range of personnel while supporting an inclusive culture is essential for this position.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• At least five years of experience in a top 50 market
• Bilingual is beneficial
• Excellent writing skills
• Solid news judgment and ethical decision-making skills
• Bachelor’s degree; Journalism or Communications degree preferred
• Knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area
• Experience using newsroom software Dalet, desktop editing, and communication tools such as Slack

Benefits

The hiring range for this position in San Francisco, CA is $84,400 - $113,200 per year. The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, alongside a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the level and position offered.
